Meet Neil Pendleton!

Neil is the Subject Matter Expert for the Diplomatic Security, Technical Security & Engineering (TSE) Office as well as the ANG Program Manager for TSE. Their mission is to train Department of State Foreign Service personnel how to design, install, operate, and maintain the technical security systems deployed at the U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
I have been supporting the U.S. Government in one facet or another for the last 25 years. I enjoy being part of a mission that helps to protect and safeguard American lives and interests.

How long have you been with the company? How have you been able to grow personally and/or professionally since you started?
I have been working with ANG for the past three years. My position with ANG has helped me to foster strong and lasting relationships with our customers.

What has been one of your favorite projects so far, and why?
Shortly after I came onboard, our office was approved for a renovation project involving the construction of several new technical training laboratories and classrooms. Our facility improvements are usually implemented through upgrades or modifications; it is not very often that you get to design something brand new, so I jumped right in. The project was broken into four phases, and we have currently completed the first two.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Most of my time outside of work is spent balancing family time with home renovations. I’m a big DIY’er. The bigger the challenge, the better- as long as there isn’t a tight timeline for completion. Our Halloween displays are a big hit in our neighborhood.

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I was the project manager for the first full-scale Department of State Operations Center in Baghdad. I worked in Iraq off and on for roughly five years building and opening Operation Centers throughout the country.

What has surprised you about working for ANG? Or what insights or advice would you give to someone who is thinking about applying to work here or recently started?
One thing I noticed immediately about ANG is the investment they make in developing their staff. The online learning content that ANG provides is a great motivator to join to the team.

Do you have anything you’re looking forward to or have you done anything fun or interesting lately?
With my daughter’s newly vested interest in the Little Mermaid, my family is gearing up for an Under the Sea Halloween display.
