What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

I enjoy the coordination and communication with different personnel in all levels at the Department of State. It’s a diverse group of people who come together to support a valuable mission.

How have you been able to grow personally and/or professionally since you started?

Personally, I was able to complete by Bachelor of Science Degree at George Mason University with the support of the tuition reimbursement benefit. This was a huge milestone within my own family and such a blessing that ANG was able to offer.

Professionally, this company has supported me to grow at a fast pace. I started with the company 6 years ago as an Administrative Assistant, supporting Mr. Jerry Perry, Program Manager. Throughout the years I was promoted to Procurement Specialist and then Jr. Project Manager. I was in that position for the past 3 years and then recently promoted to Sr. Project Manager. I would have never imagined this type of growth opportunity within one company.

What has been one of your favorite projects so far?

My favorite project was the Department of State daycare expansion. This project was to expand and renovate the daycare space for the children of DoS employees. This project put into perspective that there is more than the political side of Department of State. As a mother of 3, I really appreciated the dedication all the resource groups had to make a nice and safe environment.

What do you like to do outside of work?

The activities outside of work revolve around my 3 kids. We explore new walk paths in different neighborhoods. We love nature so we explore the local parks and neighborhoods. When I do have quiet time, I enjoy reading mystery or historical novels, a mix of non-fiction and fiction.

What is something about you that might surprise people?

The number one thing that surprises people is that my first child is 20 years old and is in her 2nd year of college. I learn a lot from her, and she is the reason I was able to continue my education.

Do you have anything you’re looking forward to or have you done anything fun or interesting lately?

I’m excited to make new memories with my family traveling a bit more. We are hoping to vacation locally in Southern Virginia, perhaps Lake Anna or make a road trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
